Sunscreens

Most people love to go out and have fun under the sun. There are a whole lot of fun activities that people can do outdoors. From playing ball, picnics, swimming and simply sitting out under the sun to get a tan. However all of these activities involve a person to be exposed under the sun. Too much exposure under the sun can definitely harm our skin’s health. That’s why we need to use sunscreen or sun blocks.

Sunscreens are not the same as sun blocks. In a nutshell, sunscreen works in a way that they absorb the suns rays and they scatter it. If you think about it does seem pretty amazing. How can a lotion do that? The lotion alters just enough of the length of the rays to prevent any serious skin damage.

Thanks to the over flooding market of sun screens a person gets so confused what kind of sun screen to get to protect him or her from the harmful sun. There are sun screens that have Arnold Swazzeneger to Pee Wee Herman as their endorsers. Common sense says that it’s probably better to get the one with Arnold in it. However let us not base our decisions on who endorses it to protect our skin when we have fun under the sun. Here are some factors that we must seriously consider.

• Look for a sunscreen with the highest protection level you can find. Look for products with higher SPF factors. Having higher SPF factors doesn’t mean that you get to spend more time under the sun. It only means you get more protection. The best amount of sunscreen to use is about a tablespoon for each leg and arm and a teaspoon on your face.

• Also look and read at the labels under the tubes. They should offer more protection from burning from UVB rays and aging from UVA rays.

• Try to look at the expiration date. The sunscreen you buy may no longer work on you when you decide to use it. If you have bought a sunscreen. Try to use it within the year. If you do decide to use it a year after and still feel that it will offer you protection, the results may not be what you expect.

• Try to look for water-proof sunscreens. Some people will get sun burned after they have gone for a swim because the sunscreen has been gone and people forget to reapply. People who are also very sweaty may look for water proofed sun screens.

• If you think that being on a cold climate like skiing is an excuse not to use sunscreens, think again. Try to look for sunscreens that re for higher altitudes.
