To Tan or Not to Tan
The color of one’s skin is simply due to the amount of melanin on it. The skins of Mulattos have more melanin than Caucasians, and the skins of Negroes have more melanin than Asians.
The concept of beauty that is linked to skin color is actually relative to where you are located in this world. For example, in South Asia, such as Indonesia and Malaysia, the dominant race has bronze skin, and this type of skin has a lot of melanin in them. A Caucasian among them would stand out, would attract attention, and would be regarded as amazing, dazzling and dainty. Thus, companies that manufacture whitening lotions, whitening soaps, and whitening creams are gaining incredible profits.
In North America and in most countries of Europe (like Germany and France), the dominant race is the Caucasian and the skins of the white people have little melanin on them. Since they are so accustomed to encountering their own skin type, meeting a person with dark brown skin becomes a novel exciting experience. Thus, many believe that a tanned skin is enchanting, stunning, and superb. Since the environment cannot aid them in obtaining such a natural tan, white people turn to artificial ways. The tanning bed became a hit.
Is it possible for you to get that perfect tan. This would depend on your original skin color. A skin which is already brown can even get darker. If you already have brown skin and still wanted to use a tanning bed, then perhaps you are aiming to have that mysterious appeal. Go ahead. Your skin has enough pigmentation and it rarely burns when overexposed to radiation.
A skin which is beige in color can readily get a tan, too. This skin can even achieve that moderately brown, gorgeous tan. A tan that implies that the body had spent wonderful times at a beach.
The average white skin tans gradually. If you have this skin color, then expect no miracles in one session. You will need to be under the UV lamps more times (but not longer in each session) than someone with beige skin. This means that if in two weeks, your friend with beige skin gets the tan he likes, your skin may need three or four weeks. Just be careful with overexposure since your skin may burn.
If your skin is really white, be warned that it burns easily. You can still tan it, but only to a slight degree. Your skin can never get that bronze shining color. If your skin is of the pale and white variety, then stay away from tanning beds. You can not get a tan. Your skin will just turn hopelessly red and you get blisters. Pale white skins burn easily.
