Features Of Good Tanning Beds
You’re thinking of buying a tanning bed, but what should look for so that you get the best value for your money? There are a variety of tanning beds available on the market today and most of them have the same basic features. Here are some important features and the things that you should know about them.
The lamps and the acrylic sheets are important for the production of the UV (ultraviolet) radiation, the energy wave that is ultimately responsible for the tan that you will get. Some tanning beds have specially designed lamps for the facial area. Check out that the lamps work properly and you should be familiar with how to operate and use them. It should also be easy to remove and change the lamps and acrylic sheets.
With the lamps, the reflectors help you get an even tanning. UV rays, like ordinary light travels only in a straight line. The reflector works by changing the direction of radiation so that this will reach almost all parts of your body. Most efficient reflectors are made up of glossed aluminum. There really isn’t any adjustment that you could do with reflectors, since these are already strategically placed.
Another feature to check out is the fan or the cooling system of the tanning bed. Obtaining your tan from tanning beds is not exactly a pleasurable experience and this is why many tanning beds have fans. The fan aims to cool the body and make the process of tanning a little bit more comfortable.
Most tanning beds have a seven-foot tanning surface and it is supposed to be wide so that a person using it would be in a comfortable resting position. The tanning surface is supported by a heavy duty aluminum and steel mainframe. The strength of the frame should be able to handle heavyweights.
Some aluminum-steel frames are coated with a polymer (a form of plastic). This would add to the durability of the tanning bed. Plus, the polymer won’t rust, so maintenance will be a piece of cake.
Tanning beds should also have a timer so that you could set exactly how long you should expose yourself to the UV radiation. You need not make rough estimates on your own, since this could be dangerous.
All the above features mentioned are supposed to help you get your most desired tan safely. As a user, your responsibility is to familiarize yourself on how to use them.
And most important of all, tanning beds should have a lifetime warranty. Don’t buy one without this.
