Safety Tips in Using Tanning Beds

Many people wanted to get that sun-kissed tan but not all of them can afford long vacations and lounging luxuriously under a tropical sun. Thus, they resort to tanning beds. But, using tanning beds, similar to exposing yourself under the tropical sun, has health risks, simply because a person is being showered with the same ultraviolet radiation. Fortunately, indoor tanning or using tanning beds can be a lot safer if you will take to heart some important tips. After all, acquiring beauty need not be fraught with insurmountable beasts.

The first thing you need to do is to use only a high-quality tanning bed. Tanning beds with some features that don’t function well are dangerous beds. The tanning bed should have a warranty and proof that it was inspected for safety. The more recent models are better since they have reduced the cancer-causing UV-A radiation. If you chose to buy a second hand tanning bed, make sure that you are getting one which is in good condition.

You must use excellent tanning lotions before and after the tanning session. A good tanning lotion helps you get the right kind of tan and reduces the amount of time that you had to spend under the UV lamps. It also moisturizes your skin and prevents it from becoming dry. A dry skin easily becomes old. Thus, scrub on the tanning lotion to stay young. Using poor substitutes won’t produce the same results.

Do not stay on the tanning bed longer than the maximum amount of time allowed. Usually, the time for one tanning session is twenty minutes, but if you have a really white skin, you might consider lowering the dosage of UV radiation exposure. Remember, you do not need to get sunburned so that you can have your ideal tan. Thus, follow the safety guidelines found on the tanning bed.

Protect your eyes. Your eyes are sensitive and should not be exposed to UV rays, otherwise, you might become blind. Tanning is not the way to change the color of your eyes. Get contact lenses for that. When you are using your tanning bed, wear goggles.

The goggles should be designed to protect the eyes from the radiation. Sunglasses are poor substitutes. And reading glasses would get you into trouble.

Know the latest about safely using tanning beds. Do not surround yourself with a comfortable cocoon and ignore issues regarding the use of tanning beds. UV radiation is not something to be carelessly dealt with. Stay up-to-date, otherwise, your lifestyle could dramatically and regrettably transform.
