The Positve Side of Tanning

Everyone has been looking at tanning at a highly negative manner. We have to accept the fact that every negative thing in life always has a positive side too. Everything is always a yin and yang. For every angel’s there are always assholes too. So when people say that tanning is only bad, try telling them about the good effects too.

It is now a fact that when UV rays touches your skin it will help in producing Vitamin D. But the negative people always contend that you don’t need much UV rays to produce Vitamin D, as even the smallest amount of UV rays can produce Vitamin D.

The vitamin D that you get from tanning can also help you out with several diseases as stated by Dr. Holick in his book the advantages of UV Rays. Here are the following diseases that he says can be helped from tanning: Breast and colon cancer, depression, multiple sclerosis, high blood pressure, psoriasis, prostrate cancer, PMS, and type 1 and 2 diabetes.

A report by the National Academy of Sciences Institute of Medicine says that the recommended amount of Vitamin D for women ages 50 or younger is around 200IU/day. For people who are 50 or older 400IU/day and 600IU/day for people older than 70 are recommended amount of Vitamin D. Therefore there is no limit for the right amount of UV rays the body should have. Because activated Vitamin D controls abnormal cell growth.

You can also get Vitamin D from supplements. But you must remember to be more careful as not to overdose. Being overdosed in vitamin D will give you toxic that will cause nausea, vomiting or even kidney stones. Eating salmon or mackerel and drinking milks and juices will help, but the body can only take so much before puking it out. SO therefore sunlight is still the best way to get Vitamin D.

If you are still a skeptic and still think that having too much exposure to UV rays will harm you. There is nothing bad in having moderate exposure only. By being able to have moderate exposure you will be able to get the benefits of sunlight and avoid the risks as well.

Learn to balance things out, even though yin and yang are completely opposite. They practice what is right in our life, that there should always be balance. Not too much and not too little.
