Are Tanning Salons Dangerous?
Having a great tanned skin is one thing some people love to have. That tanned skin makes them believe that they are more beautiful. That’s why lots of people would love to go to the beach or go out during their free time under the sun to get tanned. Problem is not much people have that free time to go out under the sun to get their tan because of work.
That’s where tanning salons come in. Tanning salons help people who are stuck in the office all day get their tan even at the most unlikeliest times. However the age old debate of tanning salons continue whether they are safe or not. Let’s take a look at the belief of some people of why tanning salons are not safe for your health.
• We all know how bad too much Ultra Violet A Rays can be to our skin. There may be times that tanning beds can emit too much UVA rays. Tanning beds however claim that their UVA Rays are controlled and they have plexi glasses to protect the person. Critics also claim that the UVA rays absorbed in tanning beds are more potent than those absorbed outdoors.
• Be wary of some tanning salons that sometimes use UVB bulbs. These UVB bulbs can harm and burn your skin. The UVB rays are the ones that could cause you skin cancer.
• Tanning beds do not offer the protection that the sun provides. Confused? Limited exposure to the sun will produce melanin that will offer protection. Some critiques believe that tanning beds do not work exactly the same way. Because there are some properties of the natural sun that will make you skin thicker and offer protection. The UVA rays that are used in tanning beds do not make your skin thicker.
• There have been experts that have still contended that tanning beds are very likely to cause skin cancer. There are some beliefs that a person who goes at least once a month can increase his chance of getting cancer by 55%.
Tanning salons may scare away some people because of the health risk that they do provide. There have been lots and lots of claims and studies that will claim that tanning salons are bad for your health and all that hoopla.
The bottom-line should be probably this, people should just first learn
more about tanning salons and beds. They should then decide based on what
they have read if they choose to believe it or not, whether they choose to
risk it or not. If they do, they should just learn to practice it the safe
way.
